Fighting Corruption and Abuse

Corruption in the federal government is a serious problem, as the vast majority of American voters understand; they blame corruption for making government services worse, increasing Americans’ cost of living, and reinforcing people’s sense that our economy works for only the rich and powerful and leaves working people footing the bill. Recent executive branch efforts to gut the nonpartisan, federal career workforce and to dismantle the oversight and accountability mechanisms that previously constrained the federal government demand new thinking about how to address abuses of power going forward.

The Center seeks to shape and inform public dialogue about government corruption and impunity; empower government and private anti-corruption efforts; and better equip the federal government to address and prevent abuses, including through pardon reform and other mechanisms.
